This morning, my wife and I visited Ron's Miniature Shop at 751 W Colonial Dr in Orlando, FL. It is a small shop piled high with all sorts of doodads for the dollhouse aficionado, from houses to furniture to scratch building supplies. My wife loved the store!Besides admiring dollhouse goodies, I was looking for 1/4" (1:48 scale) interior details such as furniture that I could use for my 28mm western buildings but found nothing useful, which I expected. Ron's sells mostly 1/2" and 1" scale items, which are the most common dollhouse scales. I did find a nice case full of Egyptian items that I can use once we get to gaming mummy hunting.
Still, it was fun to look at all the cases and spinners full of miniatures. If you or your wife like dollhouse miniatures and you're visiting the Orlando area, Ron's is worth a look. (They do not have a website, which is odd these days.) Just down Colonial Ave to the east is Colonial Photo & Hobby as well. Below are some photos of the shop I snagged off the Internet instead of snapping my own.

I'm a little far away to visit (I live in the UK) but you've given me an idea. A cunning plan non-the-less. There's a large hobbyshop near where I live that is divided roughly into one third dollhouse stuff, one third model railroad stuff and one third wargaming/modeling. If I can get my wife interested in collecting dollhouses I might get more time to look around the other two thirds of the shop.
ReplyDeleteIts a million to one shot...but it might just work.
